Thick, oily, rich and harmonious, this vintage Shou Pu'er has aged beautifully, capturing all the best qualities of aged Shou. One can detect flavors of fermented barley and toasted sugar with a long pleasant sweetness and medium fermentation. The original 7572 recipe is a Menghai classic, setting a taste standard for subsequent shou Pu'er. While the factory produces this recipe every year, not every year stands out as superlative. We were very happy to find this cake as it maintains the qualities of the famous original cake from 1975. We were able to get it at a reasonable price only because the wrapper had been damaged and removed over the years. Any experienced tea drinker can verify the authenticity, however. A rare treasure for Shou Pu'er lovers.
