Oriental Beauty is a tea that was developed in Taiwan, and became famous in the late 1800's when the Scottish tea merchant, John Dodd, began exporting tea from Taiwan to the West. Queen Elizabeth purportedly gave it its name, and it has been a favorite of the Royal Court ever since.

This Oriental Beauty is grown on a small farm in Vietnam, at an altitude of 1200 meters. In Taiwan, Oriental Beauty is usually grown at fairly low altitudes to allow leaf hoppers to bite the leaves and cause a defensive enzymatic reaction, sweetening and releasing aromatic compounds. However, in Vietnam, achieving these conditions at a much higher altitude is possible. This high mountain, tropical terroir is on par with the highest quality Taiwanese-grown Oriental Beauty. Thick broth, full of honey and muscatel grapes, a bright and colorful bouquet, given weight by a chorus of syrupy dark fruit, and Chinese herbs.
