Jin Mudan, "Golden Peony", is a recently developed cultivar from the 1970s, produced by the Fujian Tea Research Institute. It is the result of using the Huang Dan cultivar to pollinating a Tie Guan Yin plant. The new cultivar's mouthfeel is sumptuous and smooth, with a thick, viscous texture. An enduring honeyed sweetness is accompanied by deeply complex notes of cacao, flowers, and resounding high pitch notes of peach.
