Hailing from Taiwan, Yangqing Hao is a boutique producer of traditional pu'er, known for his stringent standards of quality control, overseeing each production personally. Each cake is individually pressed using antique stone molds from the Hao Ji era (pre-WWII). Driven purely by quality, less emphasis is placed on famous locales or regions. This allows Mr. Yang to source leaves from pristine forests, often overlooked by mass market producers.
The 2007 Jincha is made with leaves sourced from the greater Yiwu area. It is a blend of arbor trees and wild trees, known as Qiaomu Gushu. The orange-red liquor is thick and dark. A bouquet of ripe fruit, heavy and sweet, is supported by complex bitter notes.
